Band Bio or Information
How to describe myself in a few paragraphs…God…where do I start… I was born in China and have faint recollections of being the neighborhood tomboy, and memories of singing into a make-shift microphone (which was really a marker) while entertaining whoever would pay attention. I moved to the US at the age of 5, and began living the stereo-typical Asian/American life of focusing on good grades, learning to play classical piano, and proceeding to college to become anything other than an artist. Thank God I started listening to the voices in my head (though sometimes, they drive me crazy) and finally began living my own life instead of having someone else tell me how to live it (even if that “someone else” may have been my parents. Sorry Mom and Dad, but I still love you both!) I utilized my college degree by moving to Los Angeles and waiting tables for 2 years (my parents were THRILLED…no sarcasm...) During that time, I managed to write the songs for my first album Roam, which I was fortunate enough to work with producer Erik Colvin (demo-producer for Puddle of Mudd and an AMAZING person/musician.) After writing the song “Roam”, I knew it would be the title track…because that was how I often felt; lost inside myself and searching for such a crazy amount of love, that I’m not sure if I have any right to want so much out of life. And of course every Bio needs a list of influences, so here is a brief compilation of artists I would listen to if stuck in traffic (which I have absolutely NO patience for): Pink Floyd, Coldplay, The Police, Stevie Wonder, Lifehouse, Sarah McLachlan, Eminem, Tori Amos, Robert Miles, Fleetwood Mac, Mariah Carey, Moby, The Beatles, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Radiohead, Madonna, anything 80’s, anything good. I think it’s safe to say that I like good music. Or rather, I love great music. Lastly, I am driven by love. I love the word in itself. I love loving people. I love being loved. I love the way that little four letter word feels rolling off my tongue. And I love hearing the words being said by someone else. And I tend to write long, elaborate, fragmented sentences which Microsoft Word always underlines with a squiggly green line. And I’ve never been too keen on the color purple (unless it’s the title of a book.) Enjoy the music…
